The Greek Heroic Age is defined as the period between the coming of the Greeks to Thessaly and the Greek return from Troy. It was demarcated as one of the five Ages of Man by Hesiod. The period spans roughly six generations; the heroes denoted by the term are superhuman, though not divine, and are celebrated in the literature of Homer.
THE GUILD'S SYMBOL(THE TORCH AND HEARTH) The Greek goddess Hestia represented the home and hearth for the ancient Greeks. One of the first goddesses created by the Titans, she devoted her divine existance toward helping not only her fellow gods but also humans who needed it. This quickly garnered her the reputation of guarding the home and the hearth. The Living Flame of Hestia was said to have had its source at the center of the earth and it was believed that if it ever went out, it would incite a barren and dark time. Each house had a hearth and each morning the household would conduct a ritual to protect and secure the family for that day. Hestia believed the home to be a place that the family could go to and retreat from the outside world. A place of happiness and merriment that people could always come to and share good times away from the outside world. Heroic Age represents this family atmosphere as a guild that focuses on a laid back and enjoyable raiding style that seeks to help all members. Hestia's Torch is our guild's symbol. It represents the family nature of our guild and how we all seek to help one another in World of Warcraft. In the Ancient Greek Olympics, and so to in our modern Olympics, was carried from person to person to begin the festivities. So like the Olympics, we too pass the torch from person to person as a team working together to progress through raids and help each other along the way. The flame of Hestia, kept eternally at her altar, represents our eternal vigilance at working toward progressing as a guild and learning together as a family. So after the blood, sweat and toiling through countless adventures you always have a home in Heroic Age. From the ramparts of Icecrown Citadel to the putrid innards of Naxxramas, all of our heroes in Heroic Age can always feel the warmth of Hestia's Eternal Flame.
